When someone says ‘self-care’ – what comes to mind?

Is it the same thing as ‘treating yourself’? Or is it more about how you treat yourself?

*eating nutritiously

*sleeping enough

*exercise

how about-

*expressing creativity

*being in nature

*meditation

*play

*naps

*baths

*walking

and my two personal favorites, yoga classes and vacations.

To go a little deeper, I also like to think of self-care as just generally giving myself permission to assess and address my own needs as they arise. To heed my own intuition and be the boss of me. To compassionately respond to my own needs in a sustainable way.

Do I always take good care of myself? no. But I’m getting better at knowing what that looks like.
